Obscurity & Jesus - Vasti Garcia

November. Oh, November! It was a month full of big feelings, obscurity, and Jesus.

We all experienced a mix of feeling, thoughts, and voices during election week. It was a brutal week for me, to say the least. I was ambitious for silence. The world and people around me were LOUD.  I desperately needed to hear God's voice, so I limited human interaction and increased my time with Jesus.
In all honesty, it can feel so much easier to run to people first for insight and then to run to Jesus. Not this time around though; Jesus was my first resort!

I've been praying this prayer over the last month; over my family, my friends, my students, my church community, and my neighbor: you.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

I am grateful for student leader: Angeles! This girl is a right hand to everyone in our group.

She is enthusiastic about engaging. She always holds space for vulnerability. Through her, God has shown me that vulnerability with the right people can set you free.

  • Pray for encouragement for me.
  • Pray for our families who are feeling it all during this time.
  • Pray for clear purpose for intern, Diego.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, regardless of how you choose to celebrate!
